Burgess
Adam grew up in the foothills of North Carolina in Hickory N.C. He went to Appalachian State University (Go Mountaineers) where he majored in fun (Rec. Management) and also completed a semester in the Rockies through NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School). Adam loved leading outdoor trips at his summer jobs at Green River Preserve and adventure camping through Northern California with Adventures Cross Country. Shortly after graduating, two important things happened. He worked for an incredible YMCA in Raleigh where he was the director of a 500 participant day camp, and he made the best decision of his life and married his college sweet heart Katie. After getting married they moved to Katie’s home town Richmond, Va. Katie loves Richmond and is a librarian for Chesterfield County Schools. After exploring seminary, working in non-profits such as Church Hill Activities and Tutoring and Blue Sky Fund, Adam chose to go back to school and get his Masters in Education for School Counseling. During his time in grad school, he and Katie welcomed twins into the world. After graduating from Liberty (Go Flames), Adam began his new life as Mr. Burgess, a School Counselor in the public school system in Richmond. In 2016, he accepted a position at St. Edward Epiphany Catholic School where he’s been serving 500, PK-8th grade students ever since. His twins are in 1st grade and love SEES. Adam started the outdoor program because he offered an outdoor program at a school auction and a group of boys asked to go riding. The rest is history and the program has now evolved to Ascent.
